  • Community Reference Group celebrates first year

The Swanbank Clean Energy Hub Community Reference Group (CRG) has celebrated the end of its first year, with members reporting the CRG provided a valuable two-way communication channel between local residents and CleanCo.

At the final meeting for 2024, CRG members discussed ideas and concepts to improve community infrastructure at the precinct. CleanCo will be sharing more information about these exciting improvements in 2025.

A big thanks to our CRG for helping us shape the precinct!

  • Swanbank sights by bus proves popular

Thirty Ipswich residents enjoyed the chance to see our Swanbank power station precinct first-hand in October, when we hosted a Swanbank bus tour as part of the city-wide Sustainable Ipswich Festival.

The first stop at the Box Flat Memorial explored Swanbank's coal-mining heritage. The group then travelled on to view the Swanbank Battery currently under construction, before heading up to the lookout for a whole-of-precinct view. The tour finished with morning tea by the lake.

  • Ipswich lights up with renewable energy

Ipswich's Council-owned infrastructure is now powered by renewable energy, thanks to a landmark deal struck with CleanCo.

Starting on 1 October, the agreement sees Ipswich City Council powering its major buildings and streetlights from renewable sources, significantly reducing the city's carbon footprint.

The seven-year partnership has switched almost 30,000 streetlights over to renewable energy, along with major facilities such as Council's administration building.
