From the 1960s to the early 2000s, CleanCo's Swanbank site featured two coal-fired stations (both now demolished). Today, the site has a highly efficient gas-fired power station and is transforming to become a Clean Energy Hub as part of Queensland's transition to renewable energy.
As part of the Sustainable Ipswich celebrations happening across Ipswich throughout October, CleanCo is hosting a free bus tour to explore Swanbank’s coal-mining heritage and the energy generation and storage projects planned and underway, including the new grid-scale battery. We'll also share information about the community infrastructure plans for the site.
The bus tour will be held on Weds 16 October. The tour will finish with morning tea (provided) at Swanbank Lake, an operational feature of the site that's also a popular birdwatching and recreational spot.
The bus tour starts and finishes in Bell St Ipswich. Places are limited and bookings are essential. Secure your spot by completing the online form below.
